Four narrative films and one documentary were selected to represent Calabarzon in the festival. These are 43 (documentary; Southern Tagalog Exposure), Isang Gabi (narrative; Laguna), Soup # 4 (narrative; Placido Falsario II, Cavite), Insiang Saing (narrative; Oscar John Bartolome, Laguna), and Ang Pag-ikli ng Buhok ng Batang Babae (narrative; Kevin Dayrit and Carlo Jay Cuevas, Batangas).
All films except for 43 were made by student filmmakers around the region. Isang Gabi and Insiang Saing were from UP Los Banos, Soup # 4 from Dela Salle University-Dasmarinas, and Ang Pag-ikli ng Buhok ng Batang Babae from La Salle Lipa.
Calabarzon delegates in Cinemarehiyon were Prof. Eldrick Pena from La Salle Lipa, Prof. Rossani Sarile from La Salle Dasmarinas, and Katrina Tan from UP Los Banos.
Cinemarehiyon is the flagship project of the Cinema Committee of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, headed by its chair, Dr. Mike Rapatan. According to its website, it "features selected films from various regional film festivals. Filmmakers from all over the country gather to to present and talk about their films and interact with the audience in the post-screening open forum."
Now on its third year, the festival was held outside Manila for the first time. With Dax Canedo at the helm, the Davao Team did a terrific job to make the festival successful. During the closing ceremony, it was announced that Cinemarehiyon will be held in Bacolod next year.
Cinemarehiyon Davao 2011 was presented by NCCA and the Mindanao Film and Television Development Foundation, Inc.
